| [parts of Vasion la Romaine and the Roman bridge from the upper city] |
With an entire week ahead, I already
started making plans about what we would do in our free time and what is there
to see. To my surprise, I had no clue that this region of France is so popular
for bikers, and that is usually a part of the Tour du France.
Our first day in France we went to Vasion
la Romanie, such a lovely chic city. There are two old parts of the city, the
upper city called Colline du Château, which takes you to a castle ruin on the
top, named Castle of the counts of Toulouse, and on the opposite side of the
river, the lower city, also known Colline de la Villasse, where the Cathédrale
Notre-Dame-de-Nazareth de Vaison is located and the Roman ruins. We first
visited the upper city. Right at the entrance, two cats were sleeping peacefully next to some books. The upper city is beautiful, small streets, colourful
windows and doors, most of them made with stone and often seeing artworks in the windows,
or artists names and ateliers.

From there we walked a bit along the river,
which was barely a small stream of water and visited the Cathédrale
Notre-Dame-de-Nazareth de Vaison. From there, we walked back to the car, past
the Roman ruins.
