D. came to visit Romania for the first time and I was super excited. He only came for a few days, thus I could not plan any long trips as driving in Romania takes longer as in other countries, since the highways are being built and often you encounter roads that are not well maintained. Nevertheless, I still wanted to show him many places in Romania.
On the first evening in Cluj-Napoca, we had dinner with my family in a very traditional Romanian restaurant, and then just walked around the streets.
The next day, we rented a car for a few days to drive around and see some places. There was a mistake when we booked the car online, and somehow our booking did not go through, but we did get a car, not one that we would have picked normally, it was an SUV.
Our first stop was Salina Turda, a salt mine that is nowadays only used for entertainment and treatment. I have been many times here, but I still find it fascinating. The acoustic inside is great and once I got to see a small concert, it was truly magical.
