Ireland - Lough Leane and McCarthy Mór Castle

My first day in Ireland started with travelling from Dublin to Killarney, after checking in we decided to explore a bit the area and the national park by visiting the Lough Leane lake and McCarthy Mór Castle.

After enjoying the view of the lake, on our way to the city we’ve meet two lovely horses.

I find Killarney very beautiful with many old houses, even though is quite a small city. The selection of beer is just amazing and the food tastes really good, I was surprised.

A walk close to Rein Abbey, Austria

The trip this time was a small walk in the forest next to Rein Abbey, Steiermark, Austria. Rein Abbey is a wonderful Cistercian monastery founded in the 12 th century. If you hike in the forest next to this beautiful abbey, you will find one smaller church on the top of the hill and a chapel. There, we had a nice photo shooting for some LARP costume. I would say the place was just perfect to fulfil the purpose of our trip.  On the way back we were greeted by more snow and a lovely afternoon light filling the forest.

Wasserweg (the water path) in Liebenfels - part II

This blog post  is about the second half of the Wasserweg. You can read the first part and check out the beautiful pictures here . During the first hike, we did not manage to finish the entire hike. Hiking with older people means sometimes slowing down, taking more breaks and enjoying nature around you. Although, there is the possibility to drive somewhere to where the half hike would start, this time we did the entire thing in one walk. The path continues next to the stream until you reach a bigger waterfall. If you are lucky, you might have the waterfall all by yourself and not have to wait to take photos of this wonderful place.  After the waterfall, the path continues until the next village, where you can stop and have a snack. We didn’t really go until this restaurant or hut but instead stopped once we came out of the forest and just enjoyed the view and tried to pet a little pony. He did not seem impressed and wanted no pets, unfortunately. Overall, I find this h...

Felsenmeer

A truly magnificent sight, lots of huge rocks in a valley, is befitting the name of sea of rocks (aka Felsenmeer in German). After we moved to Darmstadt, I tried to find the most interesting areas to visit around, and Felsenmeer was one of those places. How exactly this sea of rocks formed I am not certain, but it seems a process that took many years.  The area now is quite popular, people often trying to either climb up or down the rocks. We went down, and although it can be fun jumping from one rock to another, it can also be dangerous.  Felsenmeer We did a round hike (11 km) around the area, where we saw many horses, and sheep, beautiful flowers, lots of stones, passed a tower called Owl Tower but did not see any owls.....passed a pond.....and had a lovely hike through the forest. Although the Felsenmeer was quite busy with people, the rest of the hike was nice and quiet.  Owl tower Find the frog
