Dublin

Our last day in Ireland we’ve spent it visiting Dublin for a bit, I would have liked more than a day in Dublin, but one day is also better than nothing.  Most of the time we’ve just walked around the city with no exact aim. It was interesting that there was a Pride parade, so lots of people were everywhere on the streets. And what I liked the most was the street art, I think every city should have some street art, makes the city more interesting and colourful.

Ireland - Muckroos Abbey and House, Torc waterfall and Gap of Dunloe

On our last day in Killarney, we had a long biking day visiting many places around Killarney. Our first stop was the Muckross Abbey with the graveyard, where I tried feeding an apple to a deer, but she wasn’t much interested in my apple. The second stop was the Muckross House, unfortunately we have only seen it from outside. The third stop was the Torc waterfall, so beautiful. We kind of tried to avoid all the people by climbing very close to the waterfall to take better photos. And the last stop of the day was the Gap of Dunloe, amazing place, I think hiking there must be pretty nice, as for biking…well it was fun biking downhill but uphill I mainly pushed my bike, I guess I need more training.

Ireland - Ross Castle

The fourth day, we’ve spent it exploring more the area of L ough Leane lake. We have visited the Ross Castle, taking photos of birds and the lake. We biked a lovely path through the park and just enjoyed another evening with good beer and food, and of course some live music.

Here's a post of my boyfriend, Dorian, for his adventure in Ireland on the day when I had to attend the conference and had no time for something else. One day I rented a bike to explore the Gap of Dunloe – a valley carved into the rocks by a glacier ages ago. It was, as all the other days, rather hot and dry compared to what the Irish are used to. I’ve come clad in sunscreen and base-cap though, so I was delighted to stop pedaling and have a snack just outside of the gap – a last respite before the adventure. To both sides the gap presented rocks, sheep and a grass so green that just then I started to realize what it means. No photo does it justice, for we have come to accept that all photos are shopped, yet seeing it in real is something that no monitor can convey. I passed sheep by the ...

Ireland - Lough Leane and McCarthy Mór Castle

My first day in Ireland started with travelling from Dublin to Killarney, after checking in we decided to explore a bit the area and the national park by visiting the L ough Leane lake and   McCarthy Mór Castle. After enjoying the view of the lake, on our way to the city we’ve meet two lovely horses. I find Killarney very beautiful with many old houses, even though is quite a small city. The selection of beer is just amazing and the food tastes really good, I was surprised.
