St. Barbara Church by Friedensreich Hundertwasser

This year I felt that I was travelling and seeing new places more often than in the previous years. One reason was that I had to drive 1000 km before I can take the test for my driving licence. So, we went and explored as many places as possible. One of these places was the St. Barbara Church designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Many of his designed buildings are in Vienna, but upon a Wikipedia search apparently, some of his buildings are all over the world, in Germany, New Zealand, Japan and USA. Unfortunately, during our visit here we could not see the inside a s there was a wedding going on, but it was nice to see the colourful church at least from the outside.    And from Bärnbach we went to Köflach and enjoyed a nice swim in the lake there. Köflach is another known village for its thermae.

Vienna

I always enjoy going to Vienna. It is a lovely park, maybe even better than Schönbrunn, at least the statues are more interesting in the Belvedere park, the famous Sphinx sculptures. I find the huge red chairs from XXXLutz very interesting. Imagine a giant coming to the city and bei...

Mikulov

Mikulov is a lovely place in the Czech Republic close to the Austrian border. This place is famous for the wine made in this region and is part of the historic Moravia region. We went to this place to meet an old friend of mine from my Erasmus exchange in Germany. She now lives in Alaska and came to the Czech Republic to visit her family, so it was the best opportunity to meet her again. So, we drove on a Thursday afternoon all the way from Graz and got to spend the evening with my friend and her husband. It was a nice reunion, but quite short, as they left early in the morning. We had the next day just for ourselves, to explore the region, and exploring we did. The weather did not look like in our favour, but we went anyway.  As the day progressed, it turned out to be a lovely day with a rainy morning. As always, I googled a bit about the area and what is worth seeing and discovered a small lake not far from where we were to be an excellent opportunity to go ...
